An oasis of peace at the foothill of Mount Sinai

South of Sinai peninsula you will find Mount Sinai. The preeminently Holy Land for the three monotheist religions, it is here that the Lord addressed Moses and dictated him the Ten Commandments.

Mount Sinai, with an altitude of 2285 meters, commands a narrow valley at 1570 meters above sea level where Queen Helena founded St. Catherine Monastery in 342 AD. Still in active use, the Monastery preserves the prestigious presents which were given throughout the centuries, from all the horizons of the Christian world. Among those innumerable treasures, the most precious is the Library, with 3,500 sacred manuscripts. Some of them of inestimable value, it ranks second in the world, after the Vatican Library.

St. Catherine is a wide, official, natural reserve

Daniela Village is situated 700 meters down the left side of the road behind the Monastery. The road is the initial path to the Mount Sinai
